Above are just a few of the recent WordPress and bespoke websites Melted Media have built for their loyal clients. These examples are a mix of bespoke websites built with PHP and WordPress sites. There’s also a few of their own interesting WordPress projects. Here’s a little bit more detail about some of these examples.

WordPress websites

Amongst the recent WordPress websites Melted Media have built is the site for The Bruce Arms pub in Macclesfield. They actually built the pub’s first ever website in the year they started out, 2002. When a new landlord came to the pub last year, everyone agreed it was time the old website got updated. Being regulars of the pub, the team were very hands-on with this build, creating all the content for the website as well.

Another recent WordPress job was a WordPress website for Field Management Services, a family run eBay fulfilment business based in Reading that have been established for 17 years. They needed a website to showcase their service in eBay order fulfilment, eBay storage and eBay customer service.

Bespoke websites

As well as WordPress websites, Melted Media also build bespoke websites. A client of Melted Media for nearly 15 years now, they’ve built several websites for Jenna Robins in the time, including her current clinic website. Jenna is an Acupuncturist and Tai Chi Instructor in Wilmslow, also covering the wider South Manchester area. You can see a video of Jenna that was used on her website at the bottom of the page.

Another long-time client is Katy Powell, one of the partners at Blaze Farm, the award winning Ice Cream Farm in Cheshire. Famous for their Hilly Billy Ice Cream – all made on the farm using milk from the Peak District – and Tea Rooms offering mouth-watering home baked cakes and we’re worth a visit all year round!

Newsletter sites

Melted Media have also built a number of newsletter websites, using their bespoke newsletter engine for managing subscribers and creating and publishing email newsletters. This engine can easily be repackaged to build a newsletter site for any organisation. A couple of examples in the portfolio above are the newsletter sites for Rotary District 1285 (comprising of 68 Rotary Clubs in the North West of England) and Sale Golf Club, one of the best golf courses in Cheshire.

In-house WordPress projects

As well as website builds for clients, Melted Media also work on many in-house projects and one such WordPress project is Trainerspotter. The website was built to automatically generate content based on a product feed. It was originally developed quite a while back, so the team have recently revisited the project and made it mobile-friendly with WPtouch and have started to optimise and build traffic back up.

A more recent similar project was Everything Baby, a concept they scoped many years back, but didn’t have time to build until recently. The site is designed to be a portal for everything baby-related. Like its sister sites, it’s populated using product feeds, but this time using WooCommerce, the ecommerce plugin for WordPress.

The potted history of Melted Media

Everything started back 2002 and Melted Media were mainly creating educational CD-ROMs. It wasn’t long until they moved to developing for the web, at first creating games with multimedia platforms Macromedia Shockwave and Flash, eventually moving on to full websites builds.

The founders of Melted Media had both been employed by Europress Software, an educational and entertainment software publisher. When Europess ceased trading in June 2002, Melted Media was born and its first projects were actually developing several CD-ROMs to be released under the Europress brand name.

The early projects resulted in Melted Media working on over 20 educational and licenced titles over the following five years, developed for several different UK software publishers. The most notably of these was Art Attack Digital, a CD-ROM designed for use by children, allowing them to perform wacky special effects on digital photographs and imported images. The release got to No. 1 on the Amazon.co.uk Hot 100 Software chart in the run up to Christmas 2004.

As web technology advanced, it would see the Melted Media team commissioned to develop online games, working on projects for well-known brands like Toyota and Carlsberg, but also developing their own games such as Autofrag Sumo. The game was a 3D Shockwave racing and combat game and a great advert for the business, reaching No.1 in the Channel4.com 4GAMES CHART from October 2004 to October 2007.

The team’s skillset diversified as they worked on a wider variety of projects, which ultimately opened up the door to take on full website projects. This is where most of their focus has been over the last 13 years. From taking on web design in Macclesfield for small local businesses to completely bespoke ecommerce development and integration for an online retailer with over £10 million in sales a year, they’ve been involved in projects of all sizes and complexity. All of this has given them a vast amount of experience to draw on. They love to use this to help small businesses with their first website and have fine-tuned the process to be as pain free as possible. This is why they love WordPress for developing websites. Carry on reading to find out why.
